A 7-year-old child reported missing early Tuesday is safe, Trumbull County officials said.

The report said the child was taken by his father, James Bickel, 30, of Warren, during a domestic dispute. Bickel does not have custody of the child.

Trumbull County officials later reported that Bickel returned the child to his residence.

Bickel was booked into the county jail at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday on a domestic-violence charge.

Woman reports being robbed, hit with gun

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a 24-year-old woman had her diaper bag taken from her Monday evening after a man hit her in the face with a gun.

The woman told police she was walking into an apartment building about 9:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of Tyrell Avenue on the West Side when a man asked her to open the door, then pulled a gun and demanded her money.

When the woman said she had none, the robber grabbed her diaper bag, hit her in the face with the gun, grabbed the bag and ran away. The woman denied medical attention, reports said.

Bomb threats

YOUNGSTOWN

A man arrested on the Youngstown State University campus is accused of making several bomb threats in Alexandria, Va.

Dmitri Duggan, 22, is in the Mahoning County jail on a fugitive-from-justice warrant.

Todd Werth, special agent in charge of the Youngstown FBI office, said authorities in Alexandria asked for help in finding Duggan, who is accused of making several bomb threats there that led to the evacuation of several buildings.

None of the threats was real, Werth said.

Werth said they received information Duggan was at YSU. He was arrested without incident with help from YSU police.

A university spokesman said Duggan is a YSU student.

Parade canceled

NILES

The Niles Police Department announced the cancellation of the Halloween parade that was scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday. The shooting death of Officer Justin Leo of the Girard Police Department on Saturday “has caused a shift in our priorities,” the department announced in a news release Tuesday. City police officers will be attending Leo’s funeral Sunday afternoon in Beeghly Center on the Youngstown State University campus.

Auto-theft charge

POLAND

Township police charged Donteill Grant Jr., 18, of Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, with complicity to auto theft after a car chase that spanned several communities and ended in the township last Thursday.

The chase began in Austintown after police responded to a call about a stolen vehicle there, the report said.

According to a police report, Grant and an unidentified minor are accused of stealing a red Honda Accord that was involved in the chase. Police said Grant and the minor crashed the vehicle in a field near Western Reserve Road and state Route 170.

Grant was charged last month with assault and drug possession after an incident on Market Street and Ridgewood Drive in Boardman.

Grant has a preliminary hearing Nov. 14 in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman on the assault and drug-possession charges.

Math Night for Parents

Canfield schools are offering an informational event on math curriculum for students in kindergarten to fifth grade. The Math Night for Parents is at C.H. Campbell, 300 Moreland Drive, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The night will cover The Bridges Curriculum, a newly crafted curriculum geared for preparing students for the math standards of Common Core.
