CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS Heartland students, staff learn about being homeless

Parents, staff and 225 students at Heartland Christian School in Columbiana experienced what a night of being homeless would be like during its “Mission 125” project in September for the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. All who participated slept in cardboard boxes, tents or cars in the school’s playground and parking lot. A soup and bread dinner was served at 6 p.m. The event raised at least $14,500 to benefit a new homeless shelter in Youngstown.
