Collaborative hosts Maker Mash

The Oak Hill Collaborative and its Oak Hill Makerspace, 507 Oak Hill Ave., are inviting Mahoning Valley residents to their annual Halloween Maker Mash from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Makerspace, a technology-based extension of the “Do-It-Yourself” culture, focuses on technology projects such as 3-D printing, robotics, drones, game and app development, and the Raspberry Pi Project.

The Makers have hands-on experience with computers, coding, computer hardware and software, game development, wood-crafting, 3-D printing, robotics and electronic tools.

It shares ideas, experience and knowledge with the public during a weekly open house from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays.

Candidates forum in New Middletown

The Springfield Optimist Club will have a candidates forum at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Springfield Intermediate School auditorium, 11333 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road.

Those invited to speak are candidates running for the Springfield school board, Springfield township trustee and New Middletown Village Council.

Voicing concerns in city school district

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown City School District is offering a new way for parents and community members to voice their concerns.

Callers can dial 330-744-8868 to report issues or complaints. A district representative will answer and input the information into a customer-service tool that enables CEO Krish Mohip to ensure parents’ questions and concerns are being addressed.

District personnel are to respond within three business days. They will have a tracking system to ensure questions are answered and concerns addressed. People with questions or problems also can use the “Let’s Talk” feature through the district website, www.yscd.org.
