The Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District, 850 Industrial Road, has fresh wild-bird seed for sale.

A 25-pound bag of mixed seed will be sold for $10; 25 pounds of black oil sunflower seed will be $16; and 10 pounds of thistle seed will be $9.

To place an order, call 330-740-7995 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Children Services to have luncheon

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County Children Services will have an informational luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road.

Children Services is experiencing a shortage of licensed foster homes.

Attendees can learn more about fostering and adopting, meet the foster and adoption teams, talk to current foster parents and ask questions. To register, call 330-941-8727 or email brittany.snyder@jfs.ohio.gov.

Giant Eagle donates to Second Harvest

YOUNGSTOWN

The Giant Eagle Foundation has awarded Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley $10,000 to be used to help feed families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

“We are grateful to The Giant Eagle Foundation for this very generous gift and their continued support of our mission,” said Michael Iberis, Second Harvest executive director, who noted that in addition to this gift, Giant Eagle donates much needed food from their stores and raises funds and collects food through campaigns such as Harvest for Hunger.

The Food Bank provides food to those in need in the tri-county area through 148 programs provided by hunger-relief organizations, which include church pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, shelters for battered women and after-school programs.
