Tennis players ousted

Poland senior tennis player Marisa Ricciardi’s won her first match then lost in Friday’s competition of the Division II state tennis tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

Ricciardi, who was making her second trip to state in three seasons, opened Friday’s competition by defeating Lexington’s Sylvia Goldsmith. The scores were 2-6, 6-0, 6-1.

In the final eight round, Ricciardi lost to Sydni Ratliff of Columbus Gahanna Columbus Academy. The scores were 6-0, 6-0.

As a sophomore, Ricciardi competed at state with doubles partner Audrey Schweers.

Ricciardi carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

In doubles action, Warren JFK’s team of Kaytlin Marlatt and Lauren Kraker lost its opening match to Indian Hill’s Gracey Hirsch and Hayley Hirsch. The scores were 6-1, 6-1.
