League of Women Voters to host forum

YOUNGSTOWN

League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown will present a forum, “Can Public Education Survive?” at 6 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave., the forum is free and open to the public.

The audience will explore the values and purposes of the public education system, and why Ohio and many other states created charter and voucher schools paid for out of public funds.

Also to be examined, are how students, who enroll in charters, are funded, use vouchers or choose open-enrollment, and the effects of the “reform” movement on the public education system and children.
