A Kent man is in the Mahoning County jail on charges he fired a gun early Friday in a downtown parking lot.

Juran Hill, 23, was arraigned in municipal court on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, discharging a firearm in city limits and two warrants from municipal court. Judge Robert Milich set his bond at $25,000.

Reports said police were called about 2:45 a.m. to a 116 W. Federal St. parking lot. When they arrived, they found a group of people arguing.

Witnesses gave police a description of a man who fired a gun, and Hill matched that description, reports said. Other witnesses said the man who fired the gun ran to a car, put the gun in the car then came back and argued with people in the parking lot.

Hill had no weapons on him when he was patted down, but he gave police permission to search his car. Inside, officers found a .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol.

In the parking lot, they found a .380-caliber shell casing and live round. In the cruiser, after Hill was taken to the jail, they found a live .380-caliber round where Hill was sitting.
