YSU soccer team falls in overtime

The Youngstown State and University of Detroit Mercy soccer teams both hit a rough patch lately. The two teams entered Wednesday’s game on five-game losing streaks.
But the Penguins eventually lost their sixth consecutive game after a 1-0 overtime loss.
Detroit lost in overtime to Cleveland State in its last game.
Detroit senior Paige Roberts scored her first career goal for Detroit.
With just four seconds left in the first overtime, Roberts was able to control a loose ball in a scrum just in front of the box and fired it past the Youngstown State goalie Kylee Moffett for the game-winner.
The Titans (4-11-1, 1-6-0 HL) outshot the Penguins (4-11-1, 0-7-0 HL), 19-7
Detroit goalkeeper Marina Manzo was credited with three saves and senior Rachel DeLuca took a game-high seven shots, hitting the crossbar twice early in the contest.
Moffett had 10 saves and fell to 4-9-1 on the season.
The Penguins had two attempts to win the game in the 98th and 99th minutes but were unable to convert.
Wednesday’s loss was the 12th time the Penguins were shutout by the Titans in 20 meetings.
The Penguins have lost 10 of their last 11 games.
