Jury selection continues in Hamad murder trial

WARREN — Jury selection entered its third day today in the Nasser Hamad aggravated murder trial.

Each potential juror was asked a number of questions alone in the courtroom with attorneys and the judge.

One woman acknowledged that had read articles about the case through her Facebook account but said she doesn’t put a lot of stock in it or in the opinions expressed by her friends on Facebook.

She told the attorneys for the prosecution and the defense that she would decide issues like whether to give the death penalty or not based on the evidence, not consider or talk to other jurors during deliberation about anything she had read previously.

Both attorneys indicated to Judge Ronald Rice that she could remain as a potential juror.

Another woman who was questioned a few minutes later however, said she would be missing a vacation if she were to serve on the jury. Both attorneys agreed that she could be dismissed as a potential juror.
