Daltrey works on memoir, due in August
NEW YORK
Roger Daltrey is ready to look back.
The Who’s longtime frontman has a book deal with Blink Publishing in the U.K. and Henry Holt and Co. in the U.S. The memoir is currently untitled. It’s scheduled to come out next August.
According to the publishers, Daltrey will not only reflect on his decades with The Who and on his solo career, but also on how Britain has changed in his lifetime. Daltrey, 73, was born in London during World War II and was one of rock’s biggest stars in the 1960s and ’70s, known for his vocals on “My Generation,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and other hits.
Daltrey said the book would capture his head-turning rise from factory worker to musical idol.
New ‘Fifty Shades’ book is from Christian’s POV
NEW YORK
Once again, E. L. James is letting Christian Grey speak for himself.
Vintage Books announced that the next “Fifty Shades” novel, “Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian” will come out Nov. 28. “Grey,” published in 2015, also was told from Christian’s point of view. James said the new book would give readers a “darker and more haunted” take on Christian.
James’ original “Fifty Shades” trilogy, the sexually graphic saga of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, has sold millions of copies.
Isaacson’s new book celebrates da Vinci
NEW YORK
Researching the life of Leonardo da Vinci left Walter Isaacson in a playful mood.
Isaacson, 65, sees “Leonardo da Vinci” as the culmination of his biographies about innovators that include works on Steve Jobs, Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein. Long fascinated by those who wedded logic and creativity, he says da Vinci not only left us with dazzling works of art and scientific breakthroughs, but also was a model for a more joyous and spontaneous way of life. Isaacson spent extensive time with Jobs, but his book on da Vinci, who died in 1519, seems more personal. Isaacson doesn’t just describe the “Mona Lisa” and other paintings, but adds analysis and reflection.
The book comes out Tuesday.
