Road work on Wick Avenue
YOUNGSTOWN
Wick Avenue between Westbound Service Road and Madison Avenue will be closed to through traffic for construction purposes starting Monday and lasting for about two weeks.
Local traffic will be permitted from the north and south, and access to the Ursuline High School parking lot will be maintained.
Bryson Street between Westbound Service Road and Madison Avenue will be temporarily modified to two-way traffic during the closure.
Grand jury indicts 2 Mexican citizens
YOUNGSTOWN
A federal grand jury indicted two Mexican citizens who were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement by the Youngstown Police Department last month, the U.S. Attorney’s office reported Friday.
Ignacio Mendoza-Arriaga, 31, and Reinaldo Herrerra-Herrerra, 36, previously had been deported in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
Mendoza-Arriaga had a prior felony conviction.
Youngstown police pulled Mendoza-Arriaga and Herrerra-Herrerra over for running a stop sign Sept. 21 in the city. A third man who was in the car has not been indicted.
Police memorial to be unveiled
POLAND
The township will host a public ceremony at noon today to unveil a new police memorial located at the government building on Dobbins Road.
The memorial honors two township police officers killed in the line of duty in 1983 and 1984.
Finding time for volunteer work

Stephanie Rearick, founder of the Dane County Timebank and Mutual Aid Networks in Wisconsin, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Arab American Community Center, 15 Belgrade Ave.
Rearick will speak on the use of Mutual Aid Networks, community organizing methods that help individuals find time to effectively pursue volunteer work.

East Side Crime Watch, 1001 Oak St., at the corner of Fruit Street, will have a food and clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon today. Recipients are asked to bring bags and identification.
Five Minutes with the Mayor

Mayor John A. McNally will have his monthly Five Minutes with the Mayor on Tuesday, starting at 5 p.m., in his first-floor office in city hall, 26 S. Phelps St.
Citizens are invited to visit with the mayor for up to five minutes and voice concerns or ask questions regarding city issues.
Walking exercise in Girard City Gym

Girard Recreation Department is announcing there will be a walking exercise Monday through Thursday in the Girard City Gym, 100 W. Main St., beginning from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday. Participants should be city residents.
