Judge to serve pancakes to pro bono attorneys
YOUNGSTOWN
Judge Robert Rusu will serve pancakes to local volunteer attorneys as part of Community Legal Aid’s first Pancakes for Pro Bono volunteer breakfast and HelpLine event. The event will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mahoning County Bar Association, 114 E. Front St. Any and all attorneys are welcome to attend.
The breakfast is one of the ways Legal Aid will be celebrating Pro Bono Month, which occurs in October. Pro bono refers to attorneys who donate legal expertise in order to provide free assistance to people who can’t afford representation.
In addition to the breakfast, attendees will have the opportunity to network with other volunteers, local attorneys and judges. They also will get to meet the Legal Aid staff and learn more about VLSP.
The event will also have a client-service component for those interested in participating in a HelpLine event. For any attorneys who would like to give some time that day, there will be lists of pre-screened clients to call and offer real-time legal advice.
RSVP to vlsp@communitylegalaid.org. More details are available online at www.communitylegalaid.org/pancakes.
