Division I District Tournament
HINKLEY
Boardman’s boys golf team qualified for the state tournament in Columbus, finishing third in team play with a score of 306. Cole Christman shot a team-best 72 to take third in individual play. The junior was two strokes behind medalist Andrew Kaye of Cleveland St. Ignatius. Cade Kreps shot 75, Bryan Kordupel shot 78 and Bryan Terlesky and Bobby Jonda shot 81 and 83, respectively. Howland’s Joey Vitali finsished tied for 59th place, shooting 83.

NEWBURY
Tommy Rink led the Rockets (15-1) with seven goals and Tyler Black had one. Mathew Palm, Thomas Dorsey, Logan Moser and Fernando Matos all had an assist. Phil Smith made four saves as keeper. Stats for Newbury were not provided.

Noah Busefink scored five goals for the Bulldogs (15-1). Also scoring were Jeff Remmick, Anthony Sylvester, Vinnie Rienzi, Jacob Drotar and Justin Grove. Sylvester made three assists and Michael Augustine two. Brendan White and Rienzi also made an assist while goalkeeper Jeff Remmick made one save.

Ella Crum had one goal and one assist for Grand Valley (15-0-1) and Jesse Crouch scored the other assisted by Rachael Taylor. Izzi Scarberry made one save and Pymatuning Valley’s (9-6-1) Haleigh Pavlovski made six saves. This is Grand Valley’s first ever undefeated season in school soccer history.
