Packard band to mark its 62nd anniversary with a free concert
WARREN
The Packard Band’s 62nd anniversary concert will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, featuring the premiere performance of “The Packard Legacy,” composed by Charles Sayre.
A professor of composition at Reinhardt University, Sayre was commissioned to write the two-part piece. Admission is free.
The program also will feature several marches and a Broadway overture. Stephen L. Gage is the conductor, and Thomas A. Groth will be the announcer for Sunday’s concert.
Parto’s Golf Center Halloween party

Trunk or Treat for families at church

‘Preserving History’ lecture at Bond House

The Canfield Historical Society’s fall lecture series will begin today at 7 p.m. when William Lawson, director of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, speaks on “Preserving History.” The lecture will be at the Bond House, 44 W. Main St. Admission is free.

‘Momma’s Boy’ play starring Robin Givens coming to Powers

The stage play “Momma’s Boy,” starring Johnny Gill, Robin Givens, Nephew Tommy, Jackee and Anthony Brown, will come to Powers Auditorium on Nov. 28 for a 7:30 p.m. performance.

The play asks the question, “What happens when a mother hangs on to her son too long?”
Set in the inner city, the play follows Aaron and Autumn, who are police officers in a town plagued by violence.
Autumn is forced to move into Aaron’s home with her sons, whom she has spoiled. She decides to confront Aaron about his own relationship with his mother, who has resided with him for the past 10 years.
