Police said a man found under the South Avenue bridge early Wednesday died of either an overdose or natural causes.
Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said the man had been there for a few days.
An autopsy will be done to determine a cause of death and to determine the man’s identity.
OCCHA hosts donation drive

Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana America will have a donation drive for victims of the Mexico City earthquake and Hurricane Maria from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at its offices at 3660 Shirley Road.
OCCHA asks the community to donate canned food, solar-powered lights, bottled water, wipes for adults and children, baby formula and diapers for adults and children.
The organization also will accept monetary donations.
Convoy of Hope will transport the goods and supplies to those in Mexico and Puerto Rico affected by the natural disasters.
Accepting donations
CANFIELD
Canfield school students and members of Canfield Presbyterian Church are accepting donations for hygiene kits for hurricane relief in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.
They are seeking donations of hand towels, washcloths, wide-tooth combs, nail clippers, bath-sized bars of soap (in wrapper), packaged toothbrushes, bandage strips and zipping, one-gallon plastic bags.
Bins for donations will be at C.H. Campbell, Hilltop and Canfield Middle School until Oct. 27.
Man charged with assaulting officer
AUSTINTOWN
A township man is accused of assaulting a police officer late Tuesday.
Travis Monigold, 35, of Lou Ida Boulevard, is charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.
A police officer and three township firefighters responded to a possible overdose in a home on Lou Ida Boulevard after 10 p.m. Monigold stated he took 30 Xanax that evening, the report said.
The officer took a cigarette from Monigold’s hand, and he stood up and shoved the officer, the report said.
Monigold was restrained and placed under arrest with assistance from firefighters and another officer, the report said.
Man sentenced for bank robberies
YOUNGSTOWN
An Austintown man who robbed three banks over eight days in February will spend 51/2 years in prison.
Judge James S. Gwin sentenced Jarrett Drajic, 22, of Roanoke Avenue, earlier this week in U.S. District Court in Cleveland.
He also will serve three years’ parole and pay $3,158 in restitution.
Drajic pleaded guilty to three counts of bank robbery in June.
A federal grand jury indicted Drajic in April in the Feb. 10 robbery of Farmers National Bank in East Liverpool and the Feb. 17 robbery of Farmers National Bank in Canfield.
A third robbery occurred at Citizen Bank in Chippewa Township, Pa., on Feb. 13.
Drajic stole about $7,728 from the three banks; $2,270 was recovered.
