OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, 11 W. Federal St., has a job opening for an EDUtainer-Events & Programs.

The person in this position is in charge of the event rental initiatives and also will assist in creating/delivering EDUtaining programming.

The job pays $10 an hour and doesn’t offer health insurance or paid time off.

The candidate will be scheduled as needed up to 25 hours a week including 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday unless otherwise arranged.

VLT revenue up at Austintown racino

AUSTINTOWN

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course reported video lottery terminal (VLT) revenue of $9.3 million in September with an average of 1,035 VLTs. Last September, the Austintown racino reported VLT revenue of $8.17 million with 980 VLTs.

The state’s seven racinos reported VLT revenue of $79.3 million with 11,084 VLTs. Last September, the racinos reported VLT revenue of $73.1 million with 10,947 VLTs.

MVYP looking for playground volunteers

CANFIELD

The Mahoning Valley Young Professionals will have a volunteer event Saturday at the Walnut Grove Community Playground, 8800 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

There are two shifts available for volunteers: 7:30 a.m. to noon or noon to 5 p.m.

Parking will be limited on site for Saturday’s build. Walnut Grove is asking volunteers to park at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, and they will be shuttled to the site.

The Walnut Grove project targets children with visual and/or physical impairments, who are on the autism spectrum, or have low muscle tone, as well as their families. The playground equipment will not be limited to those with special needs, so siblings and the community may use the facility.

CMI observes 200th anniversary

SALEM

CMI Group and CMI Industry Metals, a local employer of 50 Salem-area professionals, on Wednesday celebrated two centuries of business success at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh.

Local political figures, CMI officials, employees and clients were among the several hundred guests invited to the event.

CMI Group, founded by industrialist John Cockerill in 1817, is a diversified global organization with business sectors in energy, industry, defense, industrial services and the environment.
