BOARDMAN

A township woman told police she was stabbed numerous times after confronting a man she saw in her car outside her residence.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Mill Trace Road about 11 p.m. Saturday in reference to a robbery and stabbing.

A 25-year-old woman told police while taking out the trash, she observed a man inside her car. She said she then confronted him, at which point he stabbed her six times with a pocket knife she had left in the car.

The woman said the man fled after she broke free from him. According to the report, the woman was stabbed in the abdomen area. She told police she recently found out she is pregnant.

She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident reported Saturday, another township resident reported he had observed suspects breaking into a vehicle.

According to a police report, officers were sent to Southern Boulevard shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday for an attempted vehicle theft.

A 27-year-old man told police he was awakened by a scraping sound, leading him to go outside and to find two men attempting to steal his girlfriend’s car from the driveway. After the suspects fled, the man said he briefly went back inside to alert his girlfriend, then went back outside and saw someone walk up and look into the passenger side of the vehicle.

“I think someone just tried to steal your car. I’m going after them,” the man reportedly said before running away. The 27-year-old told police he believed that man was one of the original suspects he saw.

Additionally, police reported it appeared someone had broken into the couple’s residence through a window before attempting to steal the car. The woman who lives at the address reported her purse was missing from the house.

Police later found the suspects had been unable to steal the vehicle because “they had apparently inadvertently engaged the parking brakes,” according to the report.

Police received numerous other theft reports over the weekend. Residents of Hillman Way, Erskine Avenue, Melrose Avenue, Beechwood Drive and Applecrest Drive reported thefts from vehicles, a carport and a backyard, according to police reports.
