St. Rose School will have a Home and School Auction at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 in the school gym, 61 E. Main St., Girard. The event will feature a live, silent and basket auction. St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, is having a basket auction and spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22. DANCES

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., is offering community dance lessons at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Each lesson is one hour, and the cost is $5 per lesson. Niles Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. Neil Harner will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will call line dances. The theme for the dance is Halloween. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Cider and doughnuts will be served. The Friendly Squares offers weekly square dance lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Niles SCOPE Center. Rotary Club of Warren will host its 13th annual Chocolate and Dessert Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. Demetrios Banquet Center., 3223 Atlantic St. NE, Warren. Event includes chocolate from local vendors, entertainment, silent and basket auctions and 50-50 raffle. FUNDRAISERS

Canfield-Jackson Milton Kiwanis will host a Swiss steak dinner fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Tickets may be purchased at the door and cost is $12 for adults, $7.50 for children age four to nine, and children 3 and under are free. Proceeds will be used for scholarships and local projects.

Friends of Fido and Legacy Dog Rescue will host “Night at the Races” at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., will host a spaghetti dinner and basket auction from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. PROGRAMS

Lepper Library, 303 E. Lincoln Way in Lisbon, will host a presentation on Bigfoot at 2 p.m. Saturday. Fred Saluga, former police officer from the Fayette County area and Mutual UFO Network state director in West Virginia, will speak about his experiences researching Bigfoot sightings for more than 40 years. Youngstown Public Library Main Branch, 305 Wick Ave., will host a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on holocaust survivors. Holocaust Education Specialist Jess McClain will share the experiences of local Holocaust survivors Henry Kinast and Bill Vegh. Friends of the Community Library of the Shenango Valley will hold their Big Fall Book Sale Wednesday through Saturday. Over 30,000 gently used books have been organized for this sale. Prices start at 25 cents and most items are 50 cents or one dollar. Mahoning Valley Historical Society will host “History to Go: A View From the Hill” on Oct. 28. Guided tours of Oak Hill Cemetery, 344 Oak Hill Avenue, will begin at 1 and 3 p.m. Tours begin at the entry gates with a brief orientation and continue through the remarkable landscape. Visitors will discover a broad cross-section of the community represented in memorial architecture, landscape design and historic photographs. A donation of $5 per adult is appreciated.
