National Pirogi Day to be celebrated

YOUNGSTOWN

Polish Youngstown will sponsor National Pirogi Day – Youngstown Celebration 2017 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at The Federal, 110 W. Federal St., Youngstown. There will be a special appearance by Stan the Pirogi, Polish Youngstown’s mascot.

The Federal will serve a wide variety of pirogi, play Polish music and offer Polish beer and vodka specials. At lunchtime, Polska Kuchnia chef Tad Siembida, will give a live pirogi-making demonstration.

Eat-in or take out, by the dozen. Pre-orders are strongly encouraged. Handmade pirogi will be available in the following flavors: buffalo cherry, blueberry, cabbage, kraut, potato with cheese and meat. To order, call Dan Martini at The Federal, 330-720-0844.

The party will continue into the evening as Polish Youngstown celebrates its 10th birthday with a Polish happy hour from 6 to 9 p.m. with a polka DJ.
