Administrator of the Year

Carol Baird, a retired Youngstown City Schools employee, was named Administrator of the Year at the Ohio School Boards Association Northeast Region’s fall conference.

Baird served the school district for 45 years. She created the district’s gifted and talented programs, oversaw state and federal auxiliary programs, brought the Ohio State University Young Scholars Program to the city schools, revived the school district’s strings program and strengthened its arts and music programs.

The award was presented at the regional conference Wednesday, where Youngstown Early College earned a Momentum Award for exceeding student growth expectations, and Brenda Kimble, school board president, received an award for Outstanding Board Member 2017.
