Boys soccer wins against Boardman

Austintown Fitch won 4-1 in an AAC Red Tier game. Scoring for the Falcons were Blake Baker with two, Vince Myers with one and CJ Sobien with one goal and one assist. The lone Spartan goal was scored by Tommy Fryda. Fitch keeper Trevor Hykes had eight saves with Boardman keeper Jeffery Holmes saving four. Junior varsity game ended with a tie 1-1.

Varsity volleyball falls to Baordman

The Fitch Falcons lost three straight sets to Boardman 20-25, 17-25 and 13-25. Top players for Fitch were Khala Cameron with nine digs, five kills and two blocks and Makayla Zets with eight digs and nine kills.

Fitch tennis plays against Lakeside

Girls varsity tennis recently fell to Ashbabula Lakeside with a score of 2-3.

Girls varsity cross country competes in biggest meet of the season

The Austintown Fitch girl’s competed in their biggest Invitational of the season, the Spartan Invite, on Sept. 16. Leading the way for the Falcons in the varsity race were Lydia Spalding (22:18), Natalia Novicky (24:28), Kayla Olinik (25:06), Trinity Niznik (25:10) and Julia Mahan (25:21). They placed 37th out of 39 teams. Leading the way for the Falcons in the junior varsity race were Breanna Crone (26:53), Hallie Renda (26:55), Olivia Saxey (27:13), Arianna Niznik (27:33) and Keegan Davies (27:51). They placed 21st out of 24 teams. Leading the way for the Falcons in the Open race were: Mia Odom (28:03), Madison Skelly (29:38) and Susanna Suy Trigg (29:54).

Girls cross country competed in Mahoning meet

The Fitch girl’s cross country team competed in the Mahoning County meet on Sept. 26 at Austintown Park. Despite running in very warm weather, the girls placed fourth out of nine teams. Leading the way for the Falcons were Lydia Spalding (21:28), Trinity Niznik (24:47), Hallie Renda (24:55), Julia Mahan (25:42), Faith Marscio (25:51), Chloe Sima (26:09), Natalia Novicky (26:40), Sarah Pitko (26:50), Arianna Niznik (27:19) and Breanna Crone (27:26).

Fitch soccer wins against Harding Raiders 6-3 Austintown’s boys soccer team was recently victorious over Harding with a score of 6-3. Scoring first was Cris Carter for Harding to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead early in the game. The Falcons then rattled off five goals in a row to put the halftime score at 5-1. Scoring for the Falcons was Blake Baker (3 goals), CJ Sobien (2 goals) and Nick Mortaro (1 goal). Assisting on the goals were Mitchell Desiato (1 assist) and Sobien (1 assist). The Raiders added two PK goals from Reed Stanyard and Dalonte Williamson. For Fitch Trevor Hykes had six saves and freshman Carlo Walters had one.

Varsity volleyball triumphant over Lakeside

The Fitch Falcons played the Lakeside Dragons and took the lead, winning three out of four sets with scores of 25-21, 25-20, 16-25 and 25-20. Top players for Fitch were Lainie Simons with 21 digs, 13 kills and two aces, Makayla Zets with 15 kills and 15 digs, Khala Cameron with 12 digs, nine kills, five blocks and four aces and Nichole Noday with 23 assists and eight digs.

Autumn athletics have arrived and Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need your help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages.
