Two of four people accused of scamming people by purchasing items off the internet with fake currency are in custody.
Brandon Ogden, 20, of North Whitney Avenue, and Ameerah Ogden, 23, of Warren, are in the Mahoning County jail on misdemeanor charges of theft by deception. Wanted on the same charges are Dontrell McCreary, 23, and Robert Wilson, 27, both of Youngstown.
Detective Sgt. Michael Cox said the four are charged with setting up meetings with people to buy items off the internet, and when they show up, they give the people fake currency that looks real.
He said most of the meetings have taken place on Mahoning Avenue, but there was at least one transaction in Campbell. Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim can call Cox at 330-742-8262.
Burglary charges
WARREN
A man and woman were charged with burglary Tuesday afternoon when police found them on the porch of a house in the 900 block of Belvedere Avenue Southeast using electricity from the house to recharge a cellphone.
Police were called to the address at 3:56 p.m. regarding the man and woman being on the porch of a house where the residents were out of town.
Police found Jabrelle D. Fant, 23, of Larchmont Avenue Northeast, and Jessica E. Wolfgang, 18, of West Federal Street, Youngstown. The front door was open and an extension cord was running through a front window to the porch.
The two said they did not enter the home and said the extension cord was there when they got there.
The landlord said he had been to the house earlier that day and locked up the house.
