Local auto dealers post increase in September sales

Local auto dealers in September sold 272 more vehicles than last September, according to data released by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.

In total, there were 4,283 new- and used-auto sales in September 2017 compared with 4,011 sales made last year.

For the year so far, there have been 9,180 new- and used-auto sales this year, up 1,047 from last year’s 8,133.

New-auto sales came in at 2,507, up 336 from 2,171 made last year. For the year, new-auto sales are up 870 to 5,494 from 4,624 sold last year.

Used-auto sales in the Mahoning Valley came in at 1,725, down 59 from last September’s sales of 1,784.

For the year, used-auto sales are up by 149 to 3,553 from last year’s 3,404.

September 2017 had one more selling day than September 2016.

It was the first month this year to surpass the sales from the same month in 2016. In total, automakers across the U.S. sold 6 percent more new vehicles.
