WARREN
Two armed assaults were reported about the same time Tuesday morning, one involving a shooting at a bar on Mahoning Avenue Northwest and the other involving two men stabbed during a robbery on Deerfield Avenue Southwest.
Police were called to the Powerhouse bar at 12:55 a.m. for a 22-year-old city man being treated at Trumbull Memorial Hospital who said he had been shot at the bar.
When police interviewed the man, he said he was coming out of the bar when a man yelled at him to come over. The suspect walked toward him with his hooded sweatshirt over his face and fired a gun at the victim. He went to the hospital with shoulder and arm wounds.
The victim said he couldn’t describe the suspect or give names of any other people at the bar at the time.
At 1 a.m., police were called to a house on Deerfield Avenue for a city man, 46, with a stab wound on his left leg and another city man, 65, cut on his right bicep. The two victims apparently live at the same house, police said.
Both said they were held at gunpoint inside a house in the 1600 block of Deerfield. The victim with the leg wound said he was robbed of $1,000 that was in his room at the home.
The man cut on the bicep said three males came into the house with the man with the cut leg. Both victims said they were also bound. The victim with the leg wound said the males first approached him outside the house and took him inside, where they took the cash. One of the men hit him in the shoulder with a crow bar and stabbed him in the leg, he said.
Both victims were treated for stab wounds.
