HOWLAND

Jonah Weisman led the Tigers with three goals and Andrew Lightner had one goal and one assist. Manny Perez and Matt Seem each added one assist. Scoring for the Spartans was Trevor Boggess. Michael Schwartz made five saves for Howland as keeper and Jeffrey Holmes made 13 save for Boardman. With this win, Howland won the AAC Red Tier Championship.

Blake Baker scored a hat trick leading the Falcons (9-4) and CJ Sobien and Dom Foley added one apiece. Foley had one assist and Mitchell Desiato made another. Goalie Trevor Hykes made three saves. For the Raiders (10-2-1), Charlie Staffield and Luke McConnell scored one goal each and Mitch McConnell had an assist. Luke Schaffer made four saves as South Range’s keeper.

The top three seeds in singles play all won Tuesday in quarterfinal matches in the Division II sectional tournament at Boardman High School.

Top-seeded Marisa Ricciardi of Poland defeated Abby Matig of McDonald 6-1, 6-0.

Second-seeded Anna Garvin of Lakeview defeated Caprice Eaton of Warren JFK 6-3, 7-5.

Third-seeded Vy Huang of Ursuline defeated Paras Kontos of Warren JFK 6-2, 6-0.

The stage is set for today’s singles semifinal matches at Boardman High School.

Ricciardi will face Lexie Tsudis of Ursuline and Garvin will face Huang.

In doubles play, the top-seeded duo of Kaytlin Marlatt and Lauren Kraker of Warren JFK will face fourth-seeded Julia Giamboli and Jessica DiDomenico of Cardinal Mooney.

The third-seeded duo of Caitlin Condoleon and Sophia Zamarelli of Warren JFK will face second-seeded Isabella Francisco and Hannah Matthews of Cardinal Mooney.
