Suspect in park break-ins arraigned

A man who reports said ran from Mill Creek MetroParks Police officers last week at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital was given an $80,000 bond at his arraignment in municipal court.

Delord Green, 25, of Summer Street, was arraigned Monday before Magistrate Anthony Sertick on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and obstructing justice and felony counts of receiving stolen property, failure to comply and vandalism.

Assistant City Prosecutor Mark D’Apolito asked for a high bond and quoted from the Mill Creek police arrest report, where Green is quoted as telling officers when he was arrested Wednesday that he would not freeze for police and he would run.

Green was arrested after park police officers spotted him on Glenwood Avenue on the South Side. Reports said he is a suspect in several vehicle break-ins at the park as well as a previous chase from a park police officer.

When officers went to talk to Green, they asked if they could pat him down for weapons because he had a large bulge in his pockets. Green first said yes, but later he refused.

Green and the officers then struggled before he was taken to the ground and shot with an electronic stun weapon. He was taken to the park police station, and then to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after he complained of not feeling well.

At the hospital, reports said Green tried to run from police but he was caught with help from MercyHealth police.
