Man faces charges
YOUNGSTOWN
Teqwan Scott, 22, is in the Mahoning County jail on charges of aggravated burglary, abduction, aggravated menacing, possession of heroin and illegal conveyance of weapons.
According to police reports, officers were sent to East Judson Avenue on the South Side on Monday for a report of a burglary. A man told police that Scott, who he identified as his friend’s ex-boyfriend, showed up at his house after recently sending him threatening messages. The man also reported his friend “had been grabbed” by Scott but was afraid to say so to police.
The girl, who police identified as a juvenile runaway, was found in Scott’s vehicle when police pulled him over shortly thereafter, police said. Officers also reported finding a bag of suspected heroin in the police cruiser after Scott was taken to the jail.
Former teacher finishes drug program
WARREN
Tracey A. Gogel, 48, of Cuyahoga Falls, a former Warren G. Harding High School home-economics teacher who pleaded guilty to two felony drug offenses last September in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, successfully completed her one-year drug-treatment program.
But Judge Peter Kontos told Gogel on Monday she will get more than the minimum time on probation because of the number of convictions she has had. He continued her probation for another six months to a year.
Her program is called treatment in lieu of conviction and allows a defendant to have criminal convictions eliminated if they successfully complete the program.
Gogel resigned from her job with the school district in May 2016. She also was convicted in Summit County in 2015 of felony drug possession.
