Dominion grants

YOUNGSTOWN

Dominion Energy is inviting nonprofit organizations in Ohio and other states to apply for Critical Community Needs grants of up to $50,000 each for programs that provide essential community services in areas of housing, food security, medicine and medical services. For the third-consecutive year, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has pledged $1 million to help meet critical community needs across more than a dozen states.

For this year’s grants, eligible organizations in targeted areas of Ohio, Connecticut, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming and other areas within Dominion Energy’s footprint, are encouraged to apply. Online applications will be accepted until Oct. 13.

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a power lunch at Carrabba’s, 1320 Boardman-Poland Road from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Safety expo planned

CANFIELD

The 10th annual Northeast Ohio Safety Expo will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in Canfield. The expo, sponsored by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, will link employers to information and resources for keeping their employees safe and healthy on the job.

More than 40 educational sessions will cover topics such as decreasing accident frequency and severity; active-shooter training; dealing with a growing epidemic of drugs in the workplace; managing workers’ compensation claims; and much more. The expo also will feature 50 safety and health exhibitors.

Manufacturing event

The Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network will have a “State of Manufacturing” 2018 event from 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 10.

The event will cover these topics: Will the manufacturing industry keep growing at a healthy pace in 2018? How will government regulations and new legislation affect the industry? How will Northeast Ohio manufacturers take advantage of new opportunities – and face their challenges – in the new year?
