STRUTHERS

Struthers City Schools will present annual holiday winter concerts that will feature a selection of holiday favorites. Parents and families are invited to hear the high-school choir and show choir perform a selection of holiday classics beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Join the middle-school choir for a holiday concert beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Also, join the sixth- and seventh-grade band for a concert at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 and eighth-grade and high-school band at 7 p.m. Dec. 13. The fifth-grade band also will perform a concert at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 12. All of the above concerts will take place in the middle-school auditorium.

Elementary parents are invited to attend the first-grade winter concert at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 and the second-grade winter concert at 9 a.m. Dec. 19. Both concerts will take place in the elementary school cafeteria.

Classic showcase

BELOIT

West Branch elementary and middle school students will perform a classic showcase for families and community members as a way to celebrate the upcoming holidays.

The performance will include two holiday shows, “Of Mice and Mozart” and “The Nutcracker,” with a brief intermission between shows. “Of Mice and Mozart” tells the story of Mozart’s life through song and dance. The classic tale of “The Nutcracker” will come to life on stage through a telling of the story of the famous ballet.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. To purchase tickets, visit www.wbmusic.org or call 330-938-4442.

Holiday performances

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown City Schools Visual and Performing Arts students will celebrate “A Season of Joy,” with holiday performances this month at East and Chaney high schools.

The East VPA Winter Performance will begin at 6 p.m.Wednesday, in that school’s auditorium.

The Chaney VPA Winter Performance will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 21 in the Chaney High School Auditorium.

Admission for both performances is free. An exhibition of VPA visual artwork will be displayed in the lobby and cafeteria areas directly outside the auditoriums and may be viewed before the performances. Each school’s performances will include dance, drama and vocal and instrumental music pieces.

Fall lecture series

WARREN

The final presentation in the “Victorian Collections and Coffee” fall lecture series with the Sutliff Museum will be at 9:30 a.m. next Thursday, with a presentation on the impact of the Industrial Revolution on architecture. The speaker is Teresa Etzler, owner of Posh Places in Poland. The presentation is free and will be presented in the Thomas Meeting Room on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. Doors open at 9 a.m. and coffee and light refreshments will be available. Event to raise funds

EAST PALESTINE

Dull’s Auction, 50600 state Route 14, will host the Niki Feezle Auction and Dinner of Hope on Saturday to raise funds for families of children with cystic fibrosis. There will be sports and music memorabilia and many unique Christmas gifts in the silent and live auctions. The cost is $25 per ticket. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

Mercer light-up night

MERCER, PA.

The Mercer County Historical Society will be leading off Mercer’s light-up night with an open house Friday. It will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. when the festivities of the borough will begin around the courthouse.
