Former teacher, coach pleads guilty to filming undressing women

A former Mineral Ridge High School teacher and coach pleaded guilty to secretly recording two women while they undressed.

Matthew Blair, 46, of Mineral Ridge pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony interception of wire or oral communication and misdemeanor voyeurism on a 2016 indictment, and to the same charges on a bill of information filed Wednesday.

Blair taught in the Weathersfield Local School District and coached the girls track and field team.

The 2016 charges involved a former member of Blair’s track team who was in her early 20s at the time and staying at his house in May of that year. Blair used a spy camera to record her while she was nude, prosecutors said.

The bill of information contained the same charges, but court officials said it involved a second victim.

Those offenses occurred between 2009 and 2012, according to the information.

Prosecutors will ask for five years’ probation and the revocation of Blair’s teaching license at his sentencing, which is scheduled for Jan. 12.
