‘Drag Queen’ at Rust Belt

Rust Belt Theater Company will present its annual production of “How the Drag Queen Stole Christmas” on Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m., with additional midnight shows Dec. 9 and 16, in Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. The musical, written and composed by Robert Dennick Joki and Josh Taylor, is a bawdy take on the Dickens classic, and is rewritten every year to lampoon current events, politics and pop culture. It will be staged in the Calvin Center chapel and will be limited to 100 seats per show in order to provide a more intimate setting. “I want the audience to see every sequin and hear every joke,” said Joki, who stars in the show.
