CRAFT SHOWS

Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, 3813 Hadley Road, will host a craft, bake and rummage sale with a basket auction and lunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Crafters and vendors have Christmas decorations, toys, jewelry, household items and more.

Mahoning Valley Historical Society is hosting the second annual Christmas Marketplace from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St. The society is seeking vendors for this show which will be a combination of handmade artisan crafts and holiday treats. Holiday crafters, cookie bakers and candy makers are encouraged to participate. Table spaces can be reserved for $30. St. Anne Ukrainian Church will host a dessert walk and craft show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 16 in the church hall at 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown. Vendors are needed for cookies, pies, cakes, kolachi, pumpkin rolls, clothespins, soup and dip mixes, crafters and more. Tables are $35 for an 8-foot table with chairs. A portion of the proceeds benefits the church’s program for collecting and giving toys to needy children for Christmas. The public is welcome to bring an unwrapped toy for children age infant to 17 (toys for 13 to 17-year-old boys are most needed). Vendors call 330-974-3333.

DANCES

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., is offering community dance lessons at 4 p.m. Wednesdays. Each lesson is one hour, and the cost is $5 per lesson. FUNDRAISERS

Campbell Memorial Marching Band is inviting the community to a bus trip to the “Big Apple,” to explore its scenery. Cost is $99 per person. The bus will depart from Campbell Memorial High School at 11 p.m. Dec. 8 and return around 7 a.m. Dec. 10. All seats are on a first-come, first-served basis, and payment is due when reservations are made. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All proceeds benefit the Campbell Band Program. Winona Area Historical Society will sponsor its sixth annual Christmas in the Country fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the recently restored 1835 Quaker Meeting House at Cameron Street and Winona Road. Handicap accessible and free parking. Featured will be wooden boxes, toys, game boards and ornaments, wreaths, fabric and knitted items, repurposed horseshoe items and more.

Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Ave., Boardman (next to West Blvd. School), is hosting a cookie walk and craft sale Dec. 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. or until sold out. Homemade cookies are $5.50 per dozen. A portion of the proceeds will support church charities.

First Friday Club speakers luncheon series will host Diana Hayes, JD, Ph.D., STD, at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at The Georgetown, 5945 South Ave., Boardman. Sutliff Museum, 444 Mahoning Ave., Warren, has opened a new exhibit that will be open to the public through January 2018. The exhibit is “Musicians and Scholars: the Dana Family of Warren, Ohio.” It explores the origin of the Dana family, through the relationship of Dana to the Sutliff family through Phebe Lord Martin Sutliff. The significance of gingerbread as an art form goes back over a thousand years to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, who frequently incorporated it in religious ceremonies; through the 11th Century when the tradition was brought to Europe by an Armenian monk and used to create intricate images of religious icons.

Youngstown Model Railroad Association will have an open house Saturday and Sunday at 751 N. Four Mile Run Road, Austintown.
