Pet clinic to reopen

Animal Charity Humane Society, 4140 Market St., announced it has hired Dr. Alyssa Pogozelec as its primary veterinarian.

Dr. Pogozelec is a graduate of Ross Veterinary College, where she earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in chemistry and business from Geneva College, Geneva, Pa.

Dr. Pogozelec, working with the Animal Charity team, will oversee the reopening of the Jean Kelty Veterinary Clinic and begin daily operations for appointments Dec. 13. The clinic will begin accepting phone calls for appointments Dec. 6. Animal Charity is accepting appointments for spaying/neutering by calling 330-788-1064.

‘Let’s Talk Turkey’

CANFIELD

The Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley will be presenting a “Let’s Talk Turkey” program at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Canfield Library. Bob Coggeshall will talk about interesting turkey facts, and will display many photographs of turkeys taken in Mill Creek Park.

Teen dies in crash

JACKSON TWP.

An 18-year-old man died in a crash Sunday in an off-roading crash on Sunday in Mercer County. according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Police said seven teenagers were off-roading in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler when the crash happened on a Lake Latonka debris site. The six teenagers who survived the crash were taken to the hospital, but their conditions were not released by late Sunday.

Authorities did not release the name of the deceased victim.

8,200 lose power

YOUNGSTOWN

An Ohio Edison official said about 6,200 homes in Austintown and 2,000 in Youngstown lost electricity Sunday night.

Crews were working to get the power restored late last night.

Around 6,000 customers were without power in Austintown Sunday after a transformer on North Raccoon Road caught fire around 8 a.m.

Nonprofit workshop

YOUNGSTOWN

How museums and other non-profit organizations can reach out to the community and promote their institutions is the topic of a workshop 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor on Wood Street.

Marcelle Wilson, site manager of YHCIL and a part time faculty in the History Department at YSU, will present.
