Lisbon’s Summers, EP’s Sherry make All-Ohio team

Staff report

Two Columbiana County football players made the All-Ohio football teams while 20 more across the Mahoning Valley were honorable mentions in Divisions VI and VII.

Lisbon’s Cam Summers is the area’s lone first-teamer in D-VI at linebacker, while East Palestine quarterback Parker Sherry was a D-VI third-teamer on offense.

The teams were selected by a statewide media panel in the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association, which replaced the Associated Press this year for issuing postseason honors in high school sports.

Summers led the Blue Devils in tackles with 83, including 52 solo, and had two sacks and forced two fumbles. Lisbon went 6-5 this season, falling to Windham, 32-13, in the opening round of the playoffs.

In the regular season, Sherry passed for 2,010 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 1,312 yards and 16 scores. Sherry led the Bulldogs to an 8-3 record, which includes the first Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title.
