Niles Historical Society to host open house

The Niles Historical Society will host its monthly open house from 2 to 5 p.m. next Sunday at the Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St. with the last tour beginning at 4 p.m. The theme is “Christmas in New York City” and collectible buildings will be on display. The society will also be participating in the city’s McKinley Christmas from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 9. There will be tours on the main floor of the museum. A Christmas tree decorated with White House ornaments will be in the parlor and Christmas Longaberger baskets in the kitchen. There will be live music and refreshments in the Westenfield Room as well as treats for children. Calendars will be on sale for $10 with $1 for shipping. McKinley Memorial centennial ornaments also will be on sale for $20. The monthly membership meeting will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.
