Council plans seminar on OSHA requirement

The Mahoning Valley Safety Council will have a seminar on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s electronic filing requirement from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St. Join BWC safety consultant Brian Zachetti to learn about the new requirements.

Chamber plans ‘Lattes & Legislators’

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a “Lattes & Legislators” event with state Rep. Glenn Holmes of McDonald, D-63rd, at the Warren Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave., from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Dec. 11.

The Government Affairs Coun cil of the chamber is launching and hosting this new, monthly “Lattes With Legislators” speaker series featur ing the Mahoning Valley’s elected delegation to the Ohio Gen eral Assembly, who will provide updates to business leaders about developments in Colum bus throughout the remainder of summer and fall.

The cost is $10.

Holiday Lights Photo Contest scheduled

Ohio Edison invites customers to celebrate the holiday season by entering its second annual “Merry & Bright” Holiday Lights Photo Contest.

Participants can enter by submitting a photo of their home’s outdoor holiday light display on the Ohio Edison Facebook page (www.facebook.com/OhioEdison) from Monday through Dec. 15.

Up to 10 finalists will be selected by Ohio Edison based on criteria such as creativity and number of lights. Finalists’ photos will be posted on Facebook for public voting from Dec. 18-22.

The grand prize winner will receive a $200 Visa gift card and a set of LED holiday lights controlled by a mobile app. The runner up will receive a $100 gift card.

Spending forecast

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Council of Retail Merchants’ research arm, Focus on Ohio’s Future, and the University of Cincinnati Economics Center recently released their 2017 Ohio economic study and a forecast of a 2.04 percent increase in Ohioans’ holiday retail spending this year over 2016.

Overall, holiday sales are expected to be 9.57 percent more than 2015 totaling an additional $2.1 billion spent in 2017 when compared with 2015.
