Ohio’s deer-gun season opens Monday. Hunters and others who have questions about hunting can contact the ODNR Division of Wildlife toll-free at 800-WILDLIFE.

Special call-center hours include:

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Dec. 1.

Details about deer-hunting rules are contained in the 2017-18 Ohio Hunting and Trapping Regulations, available where licenses are sold or at wildohio.gov.

Senior citizens course

Niles

Western Reserve Fish & Game, 1058 W. Third St., will be offering an “Intro to Air Rifles” course for senior citizens from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.

The course is free to any senior citizen, regardless of skill level. The club will provide air rifles, pellets, targets and safety gear. Light refreshments also will be provided. The club can accommodate special needs. Participants can bring their own air rifles.

CCW/CHL class

Niles

Western Reserve Fish & Game, 1058 W. Third St., will have a CCW/CHL class from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Saturday.

The club will provide pistols, ammunition, safety gear, classroom materials, doughnuts in the morning and a light lunch. Refreshments are available all day. There is ample safe parking, and all activities take place at the club’s indoor facility. Special needs can be accommodated.

The class exceeds state requirements for an Ohio resident CCW/CHL license.

Cost is $70, and class size is limited. To reserve a spot, call Dan at 330-553-1916 or email shooting@wrfg.us. A deposit of $20 is required.

Military shoot

Niles

The Western Reserve Fish & Game Association, 1058 W. Third St., will have a military shoot on its 100-yard outdoor range on the third Saturday of each month until late fall.

The cost is $5 per shooter, and participants must provide their own ammunition.
