YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Board of Elections counted 432 provisional ballots this morning that went uncounted during the general elections earlier this month.

The votes confirmed the victory of Mayor-Elect Jamael Tito Brown as his opponent Sean McKinney did not receive enough votes to trigger a recount.

There were no other elections impacted by the additional votes.

During the board's meeting, members adopted a letter from county Democratic Party chairman Dave Betras to Secretary of State John Husted asking for his office to conduct an investigation into the board's operation for the sake of transparency.

Mayor-Elect Brown and McKinney were present at the meeting and had witnesses observe board of Elections officials count the ballots.

Board of Education member Corrine Sanderson and a small group of supporters was outside the meeting with signs, calling for "answers" and honest elections.
