Magic Tree Pub & Eatery will give back in a fun way again this year with its fourth annual Cranksgiving event.
Cranksgiving takes place tonight, Thanksgiving Eve. It’s a party for customers starting at 8 p.m. with a performance by local band The Labra Brothers, but it’s also a celebration of being thankful and giving back.
Raffle tickets will be sold for a New Belgium Brewing Co. bike with the raffle proceeds going to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. The goal is to raise $2,000.
“It makes it fun for everyone involved,” said Ryan Kallok, marketing manager for Magic Tree, 7463 South Ave.
The name “Cranksgiving” comes from the bike giveaway.
Mike Iberis, food bank executive director, said Magic Tree has been a longtime supporter of the organization.
“We are very fortunate that the community is very supportive of the mission of feeding hungry people,” Iberis said.
About 15,000 people a week go to one of the 150 Valley locations that partner with Second Harvest for a meal or food from a pantry.
“We couldn’t do what we do without the very generous support of all the people who give food and funds and their time,” Iberis said.
Raffle tickets are three for $5 at Magic Tree or $10 for an arm’s length. Customers can also bring in four canned goods for Second Harvest and will receive one raffle ticket.
