Visitors to Memories of Christmas Past this weekend at the Arms Family Museum will be treated to a lecture from Curator of Education Traci Manning. At noon Saturday, Manning will speak in the Carriage House behind the museum, 648 Wick Ave. about the history of Thanksgiving. The lecture is included with museum admission. Visitors can also continue to bring canned goods to benefit “Feed our Valley” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for half-price admission. Shooting suspect surrenders in Youngstown

EAST LIVERPOOL

Police here say one of two suspects in a shooting early Sunday, in which a woman was shot in the head, turned himself in to Youngstown police.

Deandre Dozier, 27, is from Youngtstown, and after turning himself in Monday afternoon is now in the Columbiana County jail, according to 21-WFMJ TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. The person police believe he was with, Randy Otis, 25, is from Steubenville.

The two are suspects in the shooting of a woman in her apartment on Wilbur Avenue.

Chief John Lane Lane said Dozier and Otis have been feuding with several people, Wilbur among them, for about three weeks. He did not have a condition on the woman who was shot.

YMHA officials plan special meeting

The Board of Commissioners of the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority will have a special meeting at noon Tuesday. The meeting will take place at the offices of the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority, 131 W. Boardman St. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the employment of the executive director.

Traffic-safety award

The village police department is the recipient of a traffic safety award from Northeastern Ohio’s American Automobile Association, according to a news release.

The village has a traffic safety program that includes high-visibility enforcement, traffic monitoring and a public education component, which police said has reduced crashes.

A representative of AAA presented a bronze award to Police Chief Vincent D’Egidio Monday.

Library friends groups schedule meetings

Austintown and Poland Friends of the Library groups have meetings scheduled in the coming weeks.

The Austintown friends have a meeting scheduled at 10 a.m. Nov. 27 in the meeting room of the Austintown library at 600 S. Raccoon Road.

Retired Navy Capt. Nick Pacalo of North Lima will share stories about 25 years as an airman in Vietnam and flights during the Cold War.

The Poland friends have a meeting scheduled at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the meeting room of the Poland library at 311 S. Main St.

A celebration of “Cookies and Carolers” by the Poland Seminary High School choral group “Harmonically Speaking” will follow a short business meeting.

Caucus rescheduled

The caucus meeting and regular meeting of the Warren City Council scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled. The caucus will begin at 4:15 p.m. and will be followed by the meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The caucus and meeting will take place at the Municipal Justice Building, 141 South St. SE.

Museum event

The Ohio History Connection’s Museum Education and Outreach ToolBox Workshop Series will host an event at 1 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor on Wood Street.

The topic of discussion will be how museums and other non-profit organizations can reach out to the community and promote their institutions.

Marcelle Wilson, site manager of YHCIL and a part-time faculty member in the History Department at Youngstown State University, will present.
