Hidden Valley Sportsmen’s Club, 268 Gilkey Road, is having a Klays 4 Kids event at 10 a.m. Sunday. The event will help raise funds for Mercer County’s Toys for Tots campaign. All net proceeds will go to the campaign.

Cost is $25, which gets participants four 25-rounds of trap on choice of two trap fields. Door prices will be awarded, and lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day.

All participants are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots campaign.

Youth program

Niles

Western Reserve Fish & Game Association, 1058 W. Third Street, will have a youth archery and air rifle open house at its indoor range from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

Children age 10 to 14 are invited to participate in this free program. All equipment and a light lunch will be provided.

All skill levels are encouraged to participate. The program is structured to provide maximum range time in a balanced mix of modest instruction and maximum safe fun. Parents are invited and encouraged to stay and participate, but their attendance is not required during the actual program.

Fall turkey shoots

Lowellville

The Lowellville Rod and Gun Club, 6225 Quarry Road, will have fall turkey shoots through Tuesday.

Sign-up begins at 6 p.m., and shoots start at 7. Shells will be provided at a cost of $2 per shell. For more information, call John at 330-757-9020.

Ohio’s deer-gun season opens Nov. 27. Hunters and others who have questions about hunting can contact the ODNR Division of Wildlife toll-free at 800-WILDLIFE.

Special call-center hours include:

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, for youth deer-gun season.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 25.

8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 27-Dec. 1.

The hot line will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Military shoot

Niles

The Western Reserve Fish & Game Association, 1058 W. Third St., will have a military shoot on its 100-yard outdoor range on the third Saturday of each month until late fall.

The cost is $5 per shooter, and participants must provide their own ammunition.
