YSU professor’s husband asks for revocation of no-contact order

A Youngstown State University professor’s husband, who accused the professor of punching him in October, asked a judge Tuesday to revoke a no-contact order.

Christopher Barzak, 42, of Overlook Drive, faces a charge of domestic violence related to an incident in October when his husband told police he punched him twice after an argument.

When police arrived, Barzak’s husband was visibly shaken, with a bloody lip and swollen eye, the report said.

Barzak told police they argued, but he denied hitting his husband.

Tuesday, his husband told Judge Robert Milich of Youngstown Municipal Court he wanted the order preventing Barzak from interacting with him revoked.

The judge revoked the no-contact order.

Barzak, who teaches English at YSU, is the author of four novels, one of which was adapted into the film “Jamie Marks is Dead.”

His most recent novel, “Wonders of the Invisible World,” won a Stonewall Library Award from the American Library Association.

The case is set for another pretrial hearing before Judge Milich at 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 2.
