A doctor who was gunned down Monday at a Massillon hospital, who was a Springfield School District and Youngstown State University graduate, died in surgery, police here said.

Dr. George “Skip” Seese, 59, was a cardiologist who police say was shot by a romantic rival, Michael Wood, 50.

Seese was shot in the parking lot of Affinity Medical Center about 2 p.m. by Wood, police said.

Wood shot himself in the head. Seese was rushed to surgery but did not survive.

Seese, an osteopath, went to medical school at Ohio University and was a cardiologist at Stark Medical Specialities. He is the father of 13 children age 5 to 32, according to a biography on the company’s website.

Police said Wood confronted Seese at his car, which was parked next to Wood’s car, and shot him several times before going to his own car and shooting himself.

Autopsies for both men were scheduled for Tuesday.
