GIVING THANKS HIKE

When: Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

What: Give thanks this season and bring a nonperishable food item to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley and in return explore the protected Wildlife Sanctuary of Mill Creek MetroParks with naturalist Arika Press.

Where: Sanctuary, 2650 West Calla Road, Beaver Township.

Cost: Free.

Let’s Go Nuts

When: Saturday, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

What: Join us as we enjoy a short hike to discover various types of nuts and why they are so important. Then return to the nature center to create a nutty craft.

Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Cost: Free

Details: Age 6 or older plus adult.

Houseplants for winter

When: Monday, 9:30 a.m. to noon

What: Learn to grow and care for your plants and some new ones. Pot a new plant to take home.

Where: OSU Extension, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

When: Monday, 2 to 4 p.m.

What: Turn your summer flower containers into holiday masterpieces.

Where: OSU Extension office.

Details: Bring a 12-inch pot with soil to fill with greening and sprays for the holidays.

Raptors: Birds of Prey!

When: Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.

What: Raptors possess several unique anatomical characteristics that allow them to be superior hunters. Join expert Heather Merritt from Birds in Flight Sanctuary to see the birds up close and learn about their role in nature, and in your backyard.

Where: Canfield Library, Main Street, Canfield

SPROUT CLUB

When: Next Thursday, 1 to 2 p.m.

What: Join the Sprout Club to learn about the amazing world of plants.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown.

Santa’s Winter Barn

When: Nov. 26, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What: Come visit Santa and some of his animal friends from around the world.
