Lecture to focus on history of Lane Funeral Homes
CANFIELD
The Canfield Historical Society’s fall lecture series continues Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bond House, 44 W. Main St., with a presentation on the history of Lane Funeral Homes, one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the country.
Admission is free and registration is not necessary. Beginning in Mineral Ridge in 1855 and now run by the fifth generation of Lane family, the company has evolved from one funeral home with one employee, to one of the leading firms in the state of Ohio.
The lecture will present a history of funeral practices through the ages.
The Canfield Historical Society continues its mission of collecting Canfield history with a scanning project. Those who attend the lecture are encouraged to bring any photos or documents relating to Canfield history to be scanned. These include photos and documents from the 1950s and ’60s. For information, call 330-533-3458.
