Job workshop

YOUNGSTOWN

YWCA Youngstown will host a job-skills workshop beginning Monday. It will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Nov. 22. The focus will be on nontraditional careers.

Included will be tours of area schools and businesses that focus on nontraditional jobs. Speakers will also offer information about nontraditional careers. Other topics covered will include resume writing and interviewing, job stability, maintaining a job and financial literacy.

The workshop is open to women and men 18 and older. Participants who attend all sessions will receive a $100 incentive. For information or to register, contact Marie at 330-746-6361, ext. 110.

Ribbon-cutting

WARREN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for CSL Plasma, 2093 Elm Road, at 10 a.m. Monday.

CSL Plasma Inc., one of the world’s largest collectors of human plasma, has opened a new plasma-collection site in Warren. CSL Plasma has 170 collection centers in the U.S.

EPA chief set to meet privately with chemical execs

WASHINGTON

The Trump administration’s top environmental regulator is set to speak privately to chemical-industry executives next week during a conference at a luxury oceanfront golf resort. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is listed as the featured speaker at a board meeting of the American Chemistry Council, which has lobbied against stricter regulations for chemical manufacturers.

US factory orders up 1.4 percent

WASHINGTON

Orders to U.S. factories rose 1.4 percent in September, the strongest gain in four months. A key category that tracks business investment plans jumped by the largest amount in more than a year. The Commerce Department says result follows a 1.2 percent advance in August. The September increase was paced by a 30.8 percent jump in demand for commercial aircraft, which swings widely from month to month.
