The students of Glenwood Junior High and Center Intermediate schools were excited to do whatever they could to collect new school supplies for students in the small port town of Port Aransas, Texas.
Port Aransas is located on a barrier island near Corpus Christi. Town leaders reached out to Mahoning Valley humanitarian Kathy Price and the Mission of Love for aid following Hurricane Harvey in September. Kathy Price then reached out to the students in Boardman for help.
More than 100 new backpacks, boxes full of notebooks, colored pencils, binders and other various school supplies were collected. These items will help children who lost so much in the catastrophic flooding of Harvey.
“The hurricane relief school supplies are on their way to the Mission of Love warehouse where they will be prepared to be shipped to students in need. Thanks to all students and staff from Glenwood Jr. High and Center Intermediate School who contributed,” said Glenwood teacher Eric Diefenderfer.
Mission of Love is based in Austintown and is a humanitarian relief organization dedicated to helping third world countries and victims of natural disasters through airlifts and truck transports of medical supplies, clothes, school supplies and building materials.
