A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Oct. 25
Drug paraphernalia: A straw, a scouring pad and a spoon with burn marks, both common in drug use, and a bindle with an unknown powder were reportedly found near Lyon Boulevard and Tenth Street, though the report contained no arrest information.
Oct. 27
Theft: A Camella Drive man noticed a $50 life-sized Halloween decoration missing from his yard.
BOARDMAN
Oct. 26
Arrest: Police phone booked Tori D. Letlow, 27, of Mistletoe Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of intimidation, aggravated trespassing and criminal damaging, related to an Aug. 2 incident in which his girlfriend alleged Letlow had tried to break into her Glenwood Avenue apartment. He also kicked and damaged a window, then, as he left, threatened to kill another person, a report showed.
Theft: Timothy A. Rollison Jr., 30, of Pembrook Road, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $633 worth of property that included food as well as Xbox games and related accessories from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Employee theft: Coralys R. Fontanez-Zenquiz, 19, of South Schenley Avenue, Boardman, was charged after a supervisor with Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged Fontanez-Zenquiz had stolen about $90 worth of merchandise during a one-month period, in part by voiding the price of items for friends at her register.
Harassment: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman said she received several threatening calls.
Arrest: After responding to a report of a suspicious man in the 800 block of East Midlothian Boulevard, officers took Jonathan E. Manley, 42, into custody. Manley, of Roxbury Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Columbiana County bench warrant charging nonsupport of dependents.
Theft: Gloria J. Samuels, 58, of Ambert Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing from Walmart $12 worth of merchandise that included candy.
Arrest: Jeffrey A. Hartman, 54, was taken into custody at his place of employment on Boardman-Canfield Road after authorities learned that Hartman, of North Main Street, Poland, was wanted on a Hubbard warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Theft by deception: An official with a Glenwood Avenue business alleged a former employee improperly continued to receive paychecks that totaled $736 while incarcerated in the Mahoning County jail.
Oct. 27
Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street led to the arrest of Marquis R. Cambridge, 23, of North Gate Avenue, Liberty. He was wanted on an Ohio State Highway Patrol warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Domestic violence: Sheku A. Morleh, 37, of Market Street, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, Morleh grabbed her neck and choked the accuser, then twice punched her in the shoulder and neck areas.
Arrest: Danielle M. Tchoryk, 43, of Firnley Avenue, Boardman, surrendered on an inducing-panic charge after police, firefighters and paramedics had responded to a possible drug overdose Aug. 31 at the residence. Tchoryk was found unresponsive on a bed and given a dose of Narcan to reverse the effects of opioids before admitting having snorted heroin, authorities alleged.
Domestic violence: Tyler M. Nicula, 22, of White Beech Lane, faced a charge after his girlfriend, of Boardman, alleged Nicula had slapped her face during an argument.
Menacing: A worker for a Market Street store reported an irate customer called and threatened to return to strike the accuser.
Obscenity: A surveillance camera at a Market Street business reportedly showed a man in a gray Ford vehicle tossing on the ground an envelope that contained a comic strip that was pornographic in nature.
Theft: A $120 tool and a $60 pair of sunglasses were removed from a car in the 1800 block of Canavan Drive.
Misuse of a credit card: A Canterbury Lane woman found out someone who had obtained her credit-card information used the card to pay off a $969 online bill.
Citation: After responding to a report of a male lying in the grass in the 600 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, police issued a minor misdemeanor citation charging Mark S. Hamilton, 41, of Trenholm Road, Boardman, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
Robbery: The U.S. Marshals Task Force took custody of Britanee M. Pete, 29, of Campbell, who was wanted on warrants charging robbery and criminal damaging after several store associates with Gabe’s, 850 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged having been assaulted during a shoplifting situation. In addition, a set of doors was damaged, rendering the two doors temporarily inoperable, a report stated.
Employee theft: Jackson Township police handed to Boardman authorities Thomas S. Oliver, 21, of Melrose Avenue, Boardman, who faced a theft charge after a July 20 situation in which an undisclosed sum of money was discovered missing from Little Caesar’s Pizza, 68 Boardman-Poland Road, when several drawers reportedly came up short.
Theft: Police in Canfield picked up Susan C. Carosella of East Western Reserve Road, Poland, who faced six theft counts, including a shoplifting situation in which Carosella, 42, was accused of taking $483 worth of merchandise Oct. 13 from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Fraud: A doctor with a Market Street medical office reported a caller claiming to represent the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department told him that an arrest warrant was issued because the accuser supposedly had failed to appear for jury duty. The caller advised the doctor to buy $3,000 worth of money cards to negate the warrant before the victim called the department and realized it was a scam.
Misuse of a credit card: A township woman discovered her missing debit card was used to make a $20 unauthorized transaction at a South Avenue store.
Theft: A man reportedly stole several knife-replacement blades from Walmart.
Theft: A man in his 50s reportedly removed four cases of energy drinks and four 10-packs of such beverages from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Oct. 28
Theft: A Maple Drive woman reported a cellphone, a coin tray and $2 in change missing from her vehicle.
Assault: A woman reported that while at a business in the 7000 block of Tiffany Boulevard, another woman spit on her.
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open the front door to a wooden shed that belongs to a South Avenue pet-care center, which damaged the trim.
Breaking and entering: Police responded to an alarm at Direct Sales and Leasing LLC, 8141 South Avenue, though it seemed nothing was missing. Surveillance footage reportedly captured two males in dark pants and hooded sweatshirts forcing open a window.
Theft: Someone entered a car in the 4000 block of Hudson Drive and removed loose change.
Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 30 block of Carter Circle, where a door, a deadbolt lock and a medicine cabinet mirror sustained damaged. Nothing appeared to have been taken, however.
Theft: A Youngstown man alleged having paid a mechanic with a township business $993 for vehicle parts and repair work, neither of which the accuser received.
Citation: Police on Market Street handed a minor-misdemeanor citation to Bryce A. Laughlin of Sharon, Pa., charging marijuana possession.
Arrest: After pulling him over near Market Street and Hillman Way, officers charged Prince A. Davis, 62, of Hayes Avenue Southwest, Warren, with operating a vehicle impaired. Davis registered a 0.124 blood-alcohol content, which exceeds Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.
Theft: A woman reportedly stole two air fresheners from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.
Menacing: A Beech Avenue woman and her teenage daughter alleged an 11th-grade student had threatened to harm them during a recent Boardman High School event, then followed them to a township restaurant.
Thefts: James L. Marshall, 50, of North Main Street, Youngstown, was charged with returning a pair of shoes to Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road, that he hadn’t bought but for which he received $80 in store credit. Also, Marshall was accused of stealing a $125 pair of pants from the store.
Employee theft: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed to township police Brandon M. Savada, 18, who was wanted on a theft charge. Savada, of South Dunlap Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of stealing two $400 iPods during his last day of employment with Toys “R” Us, 317 Boardman-Poland Road.
Citation: Police near Market Street cited Joseph C. Brenner, 61, of Market, Boardman, on charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Oct. 29
Attempted burglary: Someone tried to break into an apartment in the 30 block of Carter Circle and damaged a window screen.
Theft: A man in his mid-20s reportedly left a BP station, 1090 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying for $28 worth of gasoline.
Assault: A Shields Road man alleged a roommate had struck his face several times after having punched holes in the walls.
Fraud: The owner of a former Roche Way business alleged a bookkeeper had written 12 fraudulent company checks for $126,332, and gave some of the money to her husband, who reportedly was unaware of the crime.
Theft: A diamond pendant was taken from a vehicle someone had entered in the 100 block of Maple Drive.
Oct. 30
Arrest: Police charged Lisa D. Park, 50, of Dickson Street, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired. Park’s blood-alcohol content was 0.097, a report said.
