YSU’s Zallow qualifies for NCAA nationals

Youngstown State sophomore Chad Zallow won his heat in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday night at the NCAA East Preliminaries and advanced to the NCAA nationals in Eugene, Ore.
Zallow wasted little time finishing first with a time of 13.68 seconds in the opening heat. Overall, Zallow had the fifth-fastest qualifying time in the East Preliminaries in the 110m hurdles.
It will be Zallow’s first appearance in the NCAA outdoor nationals. During the 2017 indoor season he was a first-team All-American after placing third in the 60 hurdles.
He will race at 8:32 p.m. time on June 7 in the semifinals at Historic Hayward Field, also known as Tracktown. The finals are set for 9:12 p.m. on June 9.
Also for the Penguins on Saturday at the Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Complex, thrower Jaynee Corbett finished 26th in the shot put with a throw of 15.40 meters.
