Torch Awards set

POLAND

The Better Business Bureau serving Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties will have the Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust take place at 11 a.m. June 15 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road. The event celebrates BBB Accredited Businesses and leaders that exemplify BBB Standards for Trust.

The Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust winners this year are: Butech Bliss; Rulli Bros.; William Price Heating Co.Inc.; and CKC Cleaning Specialist.

The Torch Award for Nonprofit Excellence will go to the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. The Torch Award for Civic Leadership will go to Suzanne Fleming.

America Makes receives grant for vets

YOUNGSTOWN

America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute in partnership with 3-D veterans, has received a Google.org grant to expand the Additive Manufacturing Bootcamp for veterans created last fall to teach U.S. military veterans 3-D printing, CAD drawing, 3-D scanning and traditional manufacturing.

These skills will be useful as veterans return to an increasingly digital workforce in the high-demand advanced manufacturing industry.

This summer in Pittsburgh, military veterans locally and nationally will begin a four-week Additive Manufacturing Bootcamp developed by 3-D Veterans, America Makes, GE CATA and Robert Morris University.

Veterans who attend will receive a $500 stipend at the completion of the program. Learn more at 3dveterans.com.

Aid by Making Home Affordable program

Created by a partnership of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Treasury Department and the Department of Labor, the Making Home Affordable program may be able to help unemployment claimants and unemployed workers modify their mortgages and avoid foreclosure.

Chamber schedules power lunch program

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a Power Lunch program from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21 at Plaza Azteca, 5792 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Power Breakfast, Lunch or After Hours programs bring members together to start building meaningful networks.

Advance registration is required by June 20. The event is free to attend, but attendees order off a limited menu.
